Is he as into me as i am into him?

There is this guy i recently fell for. he is at the air force academy, older, and completely confident. I’m finishing high school, confident, and falling hard for him. Since he is away and i am here i am constantly missing him. I am not sure if he likes me as much as I like him and am in a constant waiting game. I am used to dating guys who are definitely into me and with him its hard to tell. So does having the ‘upper hand’ make a difference to guys in a relationship and with him having the upper hand am i being played? Or if he’s going to the trouble to keep in contact and tell me he likes me is he in this as much as i am into him?
